Civitavecchia – Amore
First stop in Italy is the port of Civitavecchia, the heart of Rome. By first sight the port is far more modern and up to date as some of the other ports. Because of the vast size of the port, you are required to board a bus to exit the port. Anxious passengers push and shove for a place to load their baggage as the bus driver is not going to load it for you…. Once at the ports edge, you begin to walk along the shore, reminiscent of Ft. Lauderdale’s Sunrise Blvd and A1A where Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello used to play beach blanket bingo… Then all at once it hits you, a 50 ft Statue of the iconic photo taken by Life Magazines Alfred Eisenstaedt on August 14, 1945. Right away you know you have arrived in a special place, the only place on the planet where you can kill each other by day and then make love until the sun comes up.
Italy….. The land of Love…….. Amore !
