Suzy and I found Preh Khan quite a temple to explore. The Temple was built in honor of King Jayavarman VII’s father and the meaning translates into; Royal Sword. This temple is flat in design, and has many galleries for you to explore. In the center you’ll find a Buddhist Sanctuary with smaller Hindu structures surrounding the sanctuary. This particular temple has been taken over by the Jungle over the years and in 1927, some of the clearing of vegetation and trees had begun. Since 1991, the Temple has been maintained by the World Monument Fund. Certain statues have been saved weather and some have been purposely removed. Like the entranceway to Angkor Thom, along the outer walkway you’ll see a standing figure and remnants of others. You might ask yourself what happened to the rest. Most of the others have been removed for safe keeping. It is quite interesting to explore these temples. Suzy and I enjoy it immensely.
