Our hotel overlooked the Bismarck Plaza. From the window, it was easy to see this area was full of people and everyone was on the go. It is a very pleasant city. You’ll find flowers to purchase everywhere. Shops are abundant and selling almost anything you require. The cuisine here is quite varied; you can enjoy a German sausage or have some Sushi or Chinese food. When you wander down to the market plaza, you’ll find almost the entire town there. The tables are full and the people are mingling. You’ll find street musicians competing for your attention. On the other side of town we boarded a tour boat going up the Neckar River. In about 15 minutes we were already outside the city and the landscape changed completely. We were in the wilderness. The tour guide said the Neckar River was one of Mark Twain’s favorite rivers as it had many turns and plenty of movement. The countryside here was absolutely beautiful. If you’re a person who enjoys your solitude and loves nature, this area would be perfect. Suzy and I enjoyed it here. Heidelberg has a sense of city and at the same time, the relaxed nature of the suburbs. It is a special city, we enjoyed it here and would certainly return.
