After disembarking our ship in Rostock after 21 days, Suzy and I decided to grab a train to Lubeck. It is touted to be an old medieval city with plenty of history. The train ride took about 3 hours and our initial thoughts of the city were just wonderful. Right away you could see old buildings, bicyclists and taxi’s. There is plenty of life here. Lubeck is an island city, much like Manhattan in New York. To enter the city you’ll have to pass through the old gates and cross over the water. Once here we found an abundance of cafe’s along the river where we could sit outside and enjoy the locals pass us by. We visited a marzipan factory and found out it was invented here. Then we visited the Museum for Chancellor Willie Brandt. When you think of Germany somehow you think of puppets. We found an old puppet museum down a narrow path along with a puppet theater. It was very nostalgic. Suzy and I found this to be a really nice city. We stayed 3 days here enjoying the history and beauty of the city.
