Amsterdam is the largest city within the Netherlands and derives its name from the Amstel River. During the 17th century, Amsterdam was the key center for finance and diamonds. Some interesting residents of Amsterdam were Anne Frank, Vincent Van Gogh and philosopher Baruch Spinoza. Suzy and I enjoyed the city and it is full of canals and bridges, more than 1000. While here we spent a day trip traveling to Lisse and visiting Keukenhof Gardens to see the tulips. On another we decided to site see by taking a canal tour. In the evenings we spent some time walking the “red light district”. One never thinks of doing some “window shopping” for a session of “boom-boom”. Once you’ve made your selection, just open the door to the showcase and make your deal. The restaurants here were great and there were certainly an abundance of choices of cuisine. It is a city of culture and history, a must see when traveling in this part of the world.
