Suzy and I left Koh Phangan for the island of Koh Samui, approximately 20 miles South of Koh Phangan. Access to the island is limited. Most come via ferry to the port of Nathon as we did but you can also come via air. Since 1989, Bangkok Air has been the islands sole airline and owns the Airport here. Most of the island is mountainous jungle which is virtually uninhabitable. It was not until the 70’s that paved roads were installed. We arrived at Silver Beach Resort in the section called Lamai. Delightfully we had found a small private cove for us to enjoy. This part of the island offers crystal clear water, no seaweed, and hardly any surf at all. You can walk into the water, see your toes while standing knee deep and enjoy a multitude of huge rocks and palm trees on each side of the cove. Here you’ll find sand that is super smooth, hence the name Silver Beach. If you are into swimming or snorkeling, this place would be a delight.
