Suzy and I boarded the Ferry in Koh Samui at the port of Nathon bound for Surat Thani. The ferry was quite an experience that day as the sea was quite violent with wakes that appeared to be well over 6 feet. Many passengers were not happy as this ferry ride was almost 3 hours long and the seas seemed relentless. After arriving at port we then boarded a tour bus for a 3 hour ride to Ao Nang Beach in Krabi. We are staying at the Ao Nang Beach Home right on what they call Seafood Street, which is actually right on the beach. Krabi is what I would call a contemporary beach town. There are plenty of restaurants, bars, shops and banks. Virtually anything you’ll need is right at your fingertips here. Krabi is not an Island retreat. Tourists seem to flock to Krabi for the idyllic beach life that is on a much smaller scale than Phuket. You’ll find high end condo and villa sales booming here, most of them being scooped up by foreigners faster than they can build them. If you’re looking for a great getaway at the beach with night life and action, you’ll certainly have a great time here.
