Pisa is located on the right bank of the river Arno and is home to more than 90,000 Italians. When you think of Pisa, of course you think of the tower, but the tower is actually part of the Piazza Duomo which holds quite a few historical buildings. The tower itself is the bell tower for the Cathedral, quite massive and beautiful in its own right. The piazza also holds the Baptistry of Saint John and Campo Santo, religious burrial grounds. At first glance, you cannot believe the beauty of these buildings. You might expect them to be weathered and in poor condition as many of the historical sites Suzy and I have seen. Pisa is not at all that way, perhaps it was the stone used as it looks as though it was built 100 years ago. There are many historical sites in Pisa, about 20 in all including the Church of Santa Maria Della Spina (link) The city of Pisa also has the most respected graduate universities in all of Italy. It is also the birthplace of Galileo Galelei
